In May 2025, Gavin answered a broad range of questions about his work and on contemporary politics and culture for the podcast Avangarda, hosted by Ionut Vulpescu, Social Democrat MP and former Romanian Minister of Culture.

In October 2018, Gavin gave an interview with Professor Camelia Craciun, of the University of Bucharest, on aspects of his research on Romania.

In January 1996, Gavin gave an interview to City Life about the conference on Situationist revolt that he co-organised with Andrew Hussey at legendary Hacienda night club, Manchester (name inspired by Ivan Chtcheglov’s slogan: ‘The Hacienda must be built’). Participants  included the late Tony Wilson, Mark E Smith and David Bellos, as well as Jon King (Gang of Four) and Jamie Reid (designer of the Sex Pistols’ covers).
