I hail from Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders. I am an author of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, as well as being a translator. I have a keen interest in countries like Scotland, France, Romania and Madagascar, and in themes such as geopoetics, geopolitics, communism and post-communism. I currently teach French at the universities of St Andrews and Stellenbosch.
